How to save recipes from TikTok

TikTok is where you found the recipe. It is also where the recipe stays, somewhere in a Favorites folder you have scrolled past four hundred videos to avoid opening.

The format is the problem. A sixty-second video with jump cuts is a wonderful way to make you want to cook something and a terrible way to cook from — you cannot scrub back to the quantity with your hands covered in flour. This page turns one into a recipe card you can actually work off.

Step by step

  1. Tap Share on the video

The arrow on the right-hand side of the video, the one you would use to send it to someone.

  2. Pick Wrap from the share sheet

Wrap sits in the row of apps alongside Messages. If it is not there, scroll that row to the end, tap More, and switch Wrap on.

  3. Give it about fifteen seconds

Wrap pulls the video apart and builds the recipe. Close TikTok if you like — the import runs in the background and tells you when it has finished.

  4. Cook from it

Ingredients you can tick off as you go, steps at a size you can read from across the counter, and a screen that stays awake.

Questions

Do I need a TikTok account, or to log in to anything?

No. Wrap never asks for your TikTok login and has no access to your account. It reads the public video you shared to it.

The creator only says the amounts out loud. Does that work?

Yes, and it is the main reason the audio tier exists. Wrap transcribes the voiceover and pulls quantities out of speech, so a video with an empty caption can still come out as a full recipe.

What about videos with no talking and no caption?

Wrap reads the text on screen, which is usually where those videos put the ingredients. If there is genuinely no recipe information anywhere in the video, you get what was there and blanks for the rest — not a guess.

Can I import a whole Favorites folder at once?

Not yet. Imports are one video at a time through the share sheet. Bulk import is something we want to build, and we would rather say that than imply it already works.

Does the creator find out I saved it?

No. Importing is private to you. Wrap keeps a link back to the original video so you can go back and give them the view.
